This was probably the most charming B&B I have ever stayed in. It is a beautifully and authentically renovated colonial house, decorated with the most superb taste and interesting detail. There are all those little touches that make you feel so welcome and comfortable - fresh flowers, bowls of fruit, books to borrow/exchange.  The caring and friendly hosts - Sergio and Claudette - couldn't do enough to ensure we had everything we needed. The hospitality started even before our arrival, with Claudette emailing to ask about any food likes/dislikes.  And the breakfasts are truly amazing! Casa Esperanza is unique and a real find.

Finally, we found a dream B&B! It has everything you could possibly wish for - wonderful hosts, fabulous food, comfortable beds. We can't say enough good things about this beautifully decorated place in the centre of Merida.

We stayed at several places during our 3 week vacation in Yucatan. We loved Casa Esperanza the best. We were here for 5 nights.  It was comfortable, had a great mattress & lots of pillows, it was nice and quiet, very close to everything downtown, the food was delicious, it was clean, the home and gardens are gorgeous.  The owners, Claudette and Sergio were really nice people, very friendly and helpful. We would highly recommend this B&B to any traveler. It was a great experience.

We, my wife and I, spent six very enjoyable nights with Claudette and Sergio and their lovely home in Merida. We have been to the Yucatan and Merida before, but enjoyed the location of Casa Esperanza with it's proximity to center of the city and all the activities it provides. Sergio was kind enough to show us some of his very fine resoration work on several homes, and we all went out for a special birthday dinner celebration. The breakfasts were superb, and their attention to detail is outstanding.  We are looking forward to many more return visits to Merida, and will certainly try to stay with Claudette and Sergio.

We were lucky enough to stay at Casa Esperanza Feb. 5-6, 2005. It was Carnival in Merida, and the location was wonderful. We were able to walk to everything we wanted to see. The parade passed by just a couple of blocks away.  I have worked in the hotel and hospitality field for over 25 years, and I can say that Claudette and Sergio are incredible innkeepers. Staying with them was delightful. The breakfast they served was excellent. The Casa itself was a beautiful oasis in the heart of Merida. The courtyard and pool, with hibiscus and palms was lovely. I loved the attention to detail and beautiful colors in the bedroom. The kitchen with authentic talavera tiles felt like real Mexico. I enjoyed the Mexican music played during breakfast. I am looking forward to our next visit.

Casa Esperanza is an exceptional Bed & Breakfast. While touring the Yucatan on our honeymoon, we decided to extend our stay in Merida mostly because of the fabulous accomodations. Our room was very comfortable and quite private. The breakfasts each morning - different dishes every day - were really delicious. Our hosts Claudette & Sergio were very welcoming and made us feel more like friends that clients. They have restored the buildings and grounds themselves and done a wonderful job. Hope the attached pictures are clear. On top of all this, the house is located close to just about everything we wanted to see. A short walk to the central square, or up to the museum. We highly recommend Casa Esperanza.

What an excellent B&B, the staff, the room (Deluxe), the pool, the music, the FOOD!!! Wish we could haved stayed forever.

My husband and I celebrated our honeymoon in first class luxury. This B&B is the best kept secret in Yucatan. Everything was perfect.

Casa Espernaza is the nicest place we've ever stayed! We had a wonderful time. The owner's were amazing. Really "in the know" of the area. The food was outstanding, above anything we ever expected. The rooms and property are decorated beautifully.

The rooms are very nice with great bathrooms. The breakfasts were not short of excellent... with fresh flowers, fruit, cereals, juices, milk, breads, and prepared dishes with eggs, crapes, nuts!! The owners were very helpful during our stay also.

When my fiancée and I walked into Casa Esperanza we couldn't stop smiling. All we really wanted was a pool and air conditioning. We never expected to find the best place we have ever stayed in Mexico.  When we arrived, the owners Claudette and Sergio showed us around their bed and breakfast. They both had a great deal of joy in showing us their historical home. Claudette and Sergio did all the renovations and the renovations are spectacular. They were able to take a huge colonial property and turn it into a tropical paradise complete with the most comfortable beds in Mexico, the cleanest surroundings, a refreshing pool, tropical décor, and a variety of flora from banana trees to tropical flowers.  Casa Esperanza is more than a bed and breakfast. I have never stayed in a bed and breakfast that is so large and private. We stayed in what were the servant's quarters, which is separate from the other buildings. We had a choice to keep to ourselves or hang out with Claudette and Sergio. Most evenings we would hang out with the owners because they were fun to be around and full of good information.  The air conditioning, pool, tropical décor and hosts that treated us like family are reason enough to write this evaluation. But, I will never forget the little things and the attention to detail. Little things like fresh flowers on our bed after maid service and the countless ways they helped us out. I should also mention that Claudette is a trained chef that makes the best tasting breakfasts and the presentation and variety of fruit is first class. Our stay at Casa Esperanza wasn't just a great time. It was a chance to make new friends. We will be back to Casa Esperanza soon. I just hope there is a vacancy.

My wife and I used the internet to find Casa Esperanza in Merida, Mexico. We were first impressed with the colorful website and how through it was giving ALL the possible information we could want in helping us choose a B&B, including some "very true to the actual" photographs of the property. Upon arrival in their newly renovated "guest wing" it certainly did NOT disappoint us! We were, in fact, "blown away" by the owner's attention to historical architectural detail, their dramatic use of color and their design sensitivity. Our room (the Deluxe room with the King bed) was "drop dead gorgeous" - fit for a honeymoon! This place should be photographed for some decorator magazine - it was that nice. Upon arrival we were treated to a wonderful bottle of chilled white wine along with some nuts and marinated olives, which we ate on our wonderfully romantic patio. The owner's were nicely helpful in suggesting several restaurants to us, as we wanted to go out to dinner that evening. In the morning - their very inviting (and good sized) swimming pool beckoned us for a pre-breakfast swim. We then lounged by the pool at an umbrella table and read the newspaper in one of their chaise lounges waiting breakfast at the hour we had requested it the night before, while drinking from large mugs, some of their great fresh brewed Mexican coffee. The web-site said "gourmet breakfast included" and we were again - NOT disappointed. We went into the beautifully appointed breakfast room with its adjoining parlor, complete with wonderful Mexican folk art on the walls and throughout the two rooms along with delightful music playing softly and fresh flowers on the table. That was just for visual openers. There was your choice of cereals, several jams and jellies, hot English muffins and fabulous home made raisin, carrot and coconut muffins. This was followed by a large platter of delicious fresh tropical fruit decorated with fresh flowers and then to top it all off, a whole pitcher of homemade fruit smoothies and giant omelets made with ham, spinach and two kinds of cheese. The owners said they believed in a "hearty breakfast" - and for just two people - this was quite a feast. Since the owners have now only recently completely renovated the façade of the building to its historical grandeur and now have the first several rooms renovated, this B&B should become one of the most sought after reservations in town in the not too distant future, especially as they complete more of their guest rooms. My advice is book it now and be prepared for a special self-indulgent treat! (We have already told the owners that we are returning between Xmas and New Years).
